Arkadia Yhteislyseo, industrial kitchen and cafeteria (2009)

When the school was built in the early 1990s, the kitchen facilities of Arkadia Yhteislyseo had been designed for serving lunches, but not for food preparation. Due to a larger student body and changing needs, it was decided that the kitchen should be updated and transformed into a full kitchen with new serving counters, staff break room, and dining areas.

It was challenging to fit a professional kitchen with its new, current-standard appliances and storage facilities into the old kitchen space without sacrificing any functionality or dining space. This challenge was met by reorganizing the seating to be more efficient, thereby enabling the kitchen to be expanded into the dining area. The staff break room was also part of the reorganization.
